I am not sure how old someone reading this post is, but how many remember the SNL (Saturday Night Live) host Roseanne Roseannadanna?  She would begin her skit with, “Have you ever wondered why?” in a slightly annoying, high-pitched voice.  Just the phrase alone sends tickles down my spine!  What came next was an observation of some sort, but it never seemed to matter after she begun using that introduction.  What I want to follow-up her starting words with is, “…what the hell!”  Those would be my closing words.

 

Let me explain…”Have you ever wondered why? [insert some obscure event in your life here], then comes…what the hell!”  You can follow that up with, “…did I do that for?”  Now that I peeked your interest, my what the hell is to follow.

 

I recently relocated to London; expatriate for my company.  Wait for it…”what the hell!”  See what I mean.  The people who I speak to here also wonder why would an American with a good job relocate to London?  Actually, the job is why I did it and for the experience…nothing more, nothing less.  My first choice would have been Italy.  Hum, Devine intervention?  Maybe; I will never know.  What I do know is with the recent earthquakes and demolishing of entire towns, I could have been screaming a more devastating and gurgling, “…what the hell!”  My heart and prayers go out the people and families in the region…what a tragic loss of life.

 

Sometimes in life, we make decisions (or believe in the illusion that we are in control) or decisions are made for us.  Stop for a moment, look around and ask yourself, “If today were the last of all days, would you like what see, who you are?”  There is something so much deeper to this existence.  I am still looking for that something.  At the same time I am learning to turn my, “…what the hell…” experiences into a “…what in the heavens, just happened to me?”  What a wonderful thing; shifting my perspective and becoming aware.
