The Philosophy of Choice

Carbuncle bestow in the early morn,

Soft caramel cries; warming hearts anew.

Third in line, a male and female afore,

Trinity on earth was what they swore.

Love, the gift sent to cherish all their whims,

Observant, not shy, obedient will.

West of the curtain, no memories stay,

But form in the mud and iris garden.

Preschool across and next to future fame;

The wall of penny candy and brown bags.

Butter drips down small hands and face, ‘til ill,

Behind the door of grand maternal eyes.

Christmas ends and trips to the candy store,

End of segregation’s knock at the door
