Dear blog…I’ve missed you! I know…I know I have neglected you. No excuses, I have just been living. Since we last corresponded, I have started school again. Yep, this time English. Hey it is all for you, well, not all for you I just want to know more about the English Language.
Want to know the real reason? It was time to pay back my student loans. Yes, I owe, I owe,so back to school I go…lah lah lah lah lah, I owe, I owe! This brings up an interesting topic, student loans and the current generation. On July 1, 2013, the interest rate for new loans doubled in the US. What does this mean? It means that only those who come from families that have either saved for their children’s education or only the wealthy will be able to afford a formal education. We all know the average middle-class family does not save, can’t afford to save because they are living. Where does this leave our society?
Maybe by getting a degree in English I can write my way out of the rat-race? This could offer another degree of freedom, pun intended. Either way, school has been challenging and I will never dismiss the friends I have who were English majors. Much respect!
